The NuvMed Difference

One physician. Four perspectives on your pain.

Few physicians hold formal training across physical therapy, family medicine, obesity medicine, lifestyle medicine, headache medicine, and pain medicine. That breadth lets us see pain the way it actually exists — across systems — and treat the underlying causes rather than isolated symptoms.

  • Biomechanical how your body moves, compensates, and loads.

  • Neurological how pain signals begin, amplify, and persist.

  • Metabolic how weight and inflammation drive joint disease.

  • Behavioral how sleep, stress, and habits shape pain.

Meet Dr. Sebastian

Relief without reliance on opioids.

We treat the source of pain with image-guided procedures, neuromodulation, and opioid-sparing medication plans — so you regain function and comfort without depending on long-term narcotics.

Harness your body's natural healing power.

Regenerative therapies — including PRP and stem cell treatment — use your own biology to repair damaged tissue and joints, offering a natural, drug-free alternative that can help you avoid surgery.

Common Questions

Everything you're wondering.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No referral is needed. You can request an appointment directly online or by calling the clinic — we'll take it from there, including gathering any prior imaging or records.

What should I bring to my first visit?

A photo ID, your insurance information if applicable, a list of current medications, and any recent imaging (MRI, X-ray, CT) or reports related to your condition. If you don't have imaging, that's fine — we'll decide together whether it's needed.

Do you only treat pain, or can you be my regular doctor too?

Dr. Sebastian is board-certified in family medicine, so NuvMed can serve as a medical home — managing your overall health alongside your joint, spine, or headache care.

What makes NuvMed different from a typical pain clinic?

Most pain clinics offer procedures alone. NuvMed combines fellowship-trained interventional pain and headache medicine with doctoral-level physical therapy insight, obesity medicine, and lifestyle medicine — so the plan treats why you hurt, not just where.

Do you treat migraines and chronic headaches?

Yes — this is a core specialty. Dr. Sebastian completed a dedicated headache medicine fellowship at Duke and offers advanced options including preventive therapies, Botox for chronic migraine, and nerve blocks.

How soon can I be seen?

As a new practice we can usually offer appointments quickly. Call (469) 535-2246 or send a request online and we'll respond within one business day.
